A Special Visit from the World of Pekiti Tirsia: Tuhon Rommel at Eskrima International in Langenfeld

On July 15, 2025, we had the honor of welcoming a true highlight to our Eskrima International school in Langenfeld: Tuhon Rommel Tortal – one of the highest-ranking representatives of the Filipino martial art Pekiti Tirsia Kali – paid us a visit, bringing not only deep knowledge but also a great sense of joy and enthusiasm!

Participants from various cities and martial arts backgrounds came together for one clear reason: to experience Tuhon Rommel in person. And it was absolutely worth it! With his energetic, engaging style, he guided us through powerful and precise drills and techniques with single stick, knife, and empty hands – all delivered with passion and clarity.

This visit was part of his current European tour, which also includes a stop in the blade-making city of Solingen – naturally with a visit to the renowned German Blade Museum (Deutsches Klingenmuseum). This connection is especially meaningful to us, as Andrew Gläser, head of Eskrima International, also works at the museum and organizes KNIFE SOLINGEN – Europe's leading knife exhibition – together with the museum's director, Dr. Sixt Wetzler (www.knife-solingen.eu).
